Qu: If I have a lot of weight to lose, can I follow an aggressive workout plan and exercise more than 3-4 times per week?
Keeping Fit!
Ans: It depends! Everyone is an individual and there are many factors a Personal Trainer must consider when putting together the perfect exercise program for you.
First 3X a week is somewhat of a generalisation but came about because 3X is where you get the maximum return on your efforts eg the benefits are huge compared to 1x or 2x weekly but you only get marginal additional returns on 4x, 5x etc
It helps psychologically to get into a habit and less days off means exercise can almost become habitual for you, plus some people are all-or-nothing and need to really get behind something or they can quickly lose interest altogether!
What’s key is that it is MUCH harder to get in shape than it is to stay in shape. This means sometimes you have to put in a big initial effort but can cut back later to something easier to fit in (and to keep up with).

And of course, so much depends on what you actually DO in your exercise sessions: Cardio vs Intervals vs Resistance trg vs Circuits etc
Hence where are you starting from? (zero exercise?)
How overweight are you right now? Injuries? Problem areas?
Past exercise history? Genetics?
Current responsibilities – job, family, finances?
Progression – how will you add to and develop your exercise plan?
Remember too – more is not always better – always focus on quality when it comes to maximising your exercise time.
